While other banks were forming aliances with a particular airline, the Bank of Chile decided to take it one step further and form a travel agency to provide their customers with great deals on travel. This was the genesis of Travelclub, an agency were clients of the Bank of Chile can redeem their bonus points, called Dolars Premio, for travel. Travelclub had strong negotiations with the airlines on the back of their famous Super2 promotion where they would give special prices for couples travelling together. They already had an online presence but their site could only show the fares they wanted to publish with no way of making sure that they were available or even make a reservation for flights that fit the fare.
They needed an internet booking engine where they could manage, quote and reserve these negotiated fares (a lot of which, at that stage, did not reside in any GDS system) with direct inventory from the GDS. Netactica provided Travelclub with a completely customized booking engine within 3 months which enable Travelclub to open a new internet sales channel with is integrated into their current web site and even integrated into the bank login and payment systems.
